I am constantly thinking about places. I grew up in Tyler, I live in Richmond, and I’m fascinated by Detroit. NYC is my favorite city in the world, but for some reason I haven’t written much about it. I was a little coy with the city for a while after college and finally accepted my full-on love, ironically, just before the pandemic.
Beyond cities, I’ve also followed Foucault and others into a critical conversation about understanding spaces and places. To me, it’s incredibly important to know where you are and so much can be learned from that which is built. If you’re willing to look around.
